Ownership and History of Mortgage Mart

Mortgage Mart of Australia Pty Ltd operates from Bundall on the Gold Coast and describes itself as one of Australia’s leading mortgage managers, specialising in residential home lending through accredited brokers and introducers. It holds Australian Credit Licence 382606 and is also a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.

In 2023, fintech non-bank lender WLTH acquired Mortgage Mart. The deal settled at the end of September 2023 and the announcement then followed in November, according to Broker Daily and Mortgage Professional Australia. Mortgage Mart became a wholly owned subsidiary of WLTH, while both brands continue to operate under their own names. At the time, the press described Mortgage Mart as a 22-year-old mortgage manager with a loan book of about $1.1 billion.

WLTH Pty Ltd also holds its own Australian Credit Licence. The combined group has said it wants to pair WLTH’s technology with Mortgage Mart’s broker relationships and lending expertise.

What a Mortgage Manager Does

A mortgage manager does not usually lend its own money. Instead, it designs and distributes home loan products, assesses applications and services the loan on behalf of wholesale funders, which are the actual credit providers. Industry publication Mortgage Professional Australia describes mortgage managers as acting for one or more wholesale funders and often handling credit processing and aftercare. Mortgage Mart’s ASIC licence authorises credit activities other than as the credit provider, which is consistent with this model.

Where Mortgage Mart Home Loans May Suit

  • Borrowers looking beyond the major banks. As a mortgage manager, Mortgage Mart offers products from wholesale funders rather than a single bank’s range.
  • Self-managed super funds. Mortgage Mart has an established SMSF lending offering. However, from 10 August 2026, new SMSF borrowing can only fund business real property; see our SMSF loans page.
  • Broker clients. Mortgage Mart distributes through accredited brokers and has built its business on broker relationships.
