ING home loans come from ING Bank (Australia) Limited, the Australian bank wholly owned by the Netherlands-based ING Group. ING launched here in 1999 as the country’s first branchless bank, and APRA regulates it as an authorised deposit-taking institution (ADI). Because it has no branches, mortgage brokers arrange most of its home loans.
This page is a factual profile to help borrowers understand who ING is and where its home loans may fit. However, it is not a rating, a ranking or a recommendation.

Ownership and History of ING
ING arrived in Australia in 1999 as ING Direct, a branchless bank that started with an online savings account and grew into home lending. It has never run a branch network, so brokers have always been its main channel for home loans rather than an add-on. ING says it now serves more than two million customers, and it has traded simply as ING for several years.
The ING Group, a Dutch multinational financial services group, wholly owns ING Bank (Australia) Limited. In Australia, APRA regulates it as a foreign subsidiary bank, and it also appears on the APRA register of ADIs. Customers deal with ING by phone, email and its banking app.
In December 2025 ING refreshed its self-employed lending policy after consulting brokers. According to The Adviser and ING, the bank added a one-year income option, accepted company income where a director owns at least half the company, and began accepting single-layer trust income when assessing serviceability.
Where ING Home Loans May Suit
Based on publicly available information, ING home loans may be worth comparing for:
- Self-employed borrowers with one year of financials. Since December 2025, ING has said it may assess eligible self-employed applicants on a single year of income, subject to conditions that include a maximum 80% loan-to-value ratio, a notice of assessment and other lender criteria. See our page on home loans for the self-employed.
- Company directors and trust structures. ING now accepts a share of company profits where the applicant owns at least 50% of the company, and income from simple single-layer trusts, in eligible circumstances.
- Borrowers who are comfortable with a digital bank. In fact, ING has no branches and supports customers by phone, email and app.
- Owner-occupiers who want a full offset account. ING’s Orange Advantage loan includes a 100% interest offset when linked to its everyday account.
- Refinancers and investors. ING offers refinancing as well as investment loans with fixed, variable or split options.
