Ownership and History of Granite Home Loans
Granite Home Loans began in 2018 as a lender purpose-built for the Australian mortgage broking channel. It does not lend directly to the public; instead, borrowers apply through an accredited mortgage broker.
In November 2021 ColCap Financial Group (formerly Columbus Capital) became Granite’s sole funder and owner. ColCap has been financing home ownership and property investment in Australia since 2006 and describes itself as one of the country’s larger non-bank lenders.
Following the acquisition, Granite expanded its product range and broker support team. Its head office is in Castlereagh Street, Sydney, the same address as ColCap.
As a non-bank lender, Granite does not take deposits and does not operate as an authorised deposit-taking institution. Instead, ColCap funds its loans.

- SMSF trustees refinancing an existing residential SMSF loan or buying business real property, subject to eligibility and current superannuation borrowing rules.
- Non-resident and expat borrowers, subject to eligibility and foreign investment rules.
- Borrowers building a home who want a construction loan, including Granite’s HomePay option with participating builders.
